“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly Places, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love…”

Ephesians 1: 3, 4

Whether you recognize it or not, you are blessed! His anointed Presence and favor are on you, and He desires that we understand the power of blessing. The Lord had desired that Adam and Eve would be a blessing to all of Creation, but through sin became a curse.

But in and through Him, we are blessed. Smith Wigglesworth explained:

When He blesses, no one can curse. When God is with you, it is impossible for anyone to be against you. When God has put His hand upon you, every way will be open with a benediction to others. The greatest thing that God has allowed us to come into is the plan of distributing His blessing to others.

Everywhere you go, you are meant to change things by His Presence and blessing on your life. Where there is strife, His peace should now invade. Where there is need, His faith in His provision should abound.

Smith added:

“I will bless thee and make thee a blessing. Thou shalt go out one way and the enemy shall flee before thee seven ways.” When we know the power of Almighty God we need never be afraid of any weapon that is formed against us, believing that the Lord of Hosts will rise- up and stand against the enemy. God’s power upon us, His wonderful benediction of us, His provident of promise written down for us is to make us ready in every day under all circumstances to know that He who promised will surely fulfill. What a wonderful Christ. God has chosen for us in the midst a blessing, the power of the Highest overshadoweth, the glory of the Lord in rearward and before us. Who is able to withstand That Almightiness! God, breathe upon us this morning so that we may receive the enduement, enriched with all the enrichment of Heaven, crowned with blessing.

As Secret Place dwellers, you are to be drenched in the blessing of the Most High God. Sadly, our vision of God is too small. Consequently, our comprehension of the blessing falls flat. Jacob fought the Lord all night because he was in a dire situation. All hope was gone, and the future was bleak. He couldn’t overcome his strength despite how strong he was.  He fought all night against the Lord and prevailed. But as the dawn broke, he could not let go of the Lord until he received the blessing. We see a blessing as a nice word spoken over us that makes us feel good, like a well-chosen birthday card. But a blessing is an impartation from the Lord Most High. The blessing is a declaration of His purpose and His provision. His words have life in them, and His Word will not return void. Jacob was a failure and his ultimate defeat lay before him when he meet Esau. But Israel, was blessed and that anointing of God would lead Israel through to victory.

Smith said:

The Lord shall lead us forth from victory unto victory, the Lord’s people. Oh, what a blessing to know that we are the fruit of the Lord! His people are the precious fruit of the earth.

We become so harden by the experiences of life that fail to see Who He is and His mighty power. We need to remind ourselves of all the things He has done. That night, as Jacob wrestled, he looked back and remembered all the Lord had said. He remembered that despite all of his stupidity and foolish ways, God had not failed him. Smith said:

Are you ready? You say, What for? Oh! for His blessing that shall fill your life, overflow you, change you. Are you ready? What for? To get a child-like simplicity and look into the face of the Father and believe that all His promises are yea and amen to you. Are you ready? What for? To be awakened into that spirit of acquaintance that believe all things and dare to ask the Father.

As Smith explained, the world, your family, your friends, etc., need to see the witness in your life of His mighty power transforming you. His blessing lifting you so you no longer walk insecure or easily shaken. Smith said:

So God has a plan for us to show us that without we understand the Scriptures our life, though it may be wonderful—we may have prophecy, beautiful is prophecy. Divine prophecy; though we have all faith to move mountains; if we lose the main factor, which shall produce the governing principles, we become nothing. But if we are so balanced by the power of the Spirit every act would be an act with such Divine quality that the people would know in a moment, as they have perfect judgment, as they did that day when they saw Peter and John —although they were little and had not gone through college courses, they had something which expressed to them a fact: they had been in a place of, changing character and language, they had been with the Master.

Our words fail despite all our efforts. Our attempts to convince others or to reach our family always fall short. The battle is too great for us. But we are blessed in Him, and now the battle belongs to Him. Oh, as you abide in His Presence in the Secret Place and in His Word, that you are so changed. May the Lord increase your desperation for Him. May the Lord increase the vision on the inside of you so that it is beyond your ability and you know, if You don’t do it Lord it will fail. But then may He open your eyes to see the blessing He has imparted to your life so that you know what He said He would do, He would surely do and not fail.

Smith added:

So I pray you to think seriously in your heart, because you have to be in the world, not of it, personal manifestation of the living Christ. Just as Christ was walking about the earth, you have to walk about as a son of God, with power and manifestation, because the people have not time to read the Bible, so you have to be the walking epistle, “read and known of all men.” Seeing that is so and that you have to rightly see that Jesus is the Word and you have to believe the Word of God and not change it because of the people with other opinions, take the Word of God. Take the Word of God, it will furnish you in every good stand.

We face perilous waters, and we wonder how can I navigate them? Smith said:

“Whosoever believes.” So I have an extravagant God with extravagant language to make me an extravagant person—in wisdom.

We have an extravagant God Who loves us above anything we can imagine. But remember how two walks can walk together unless they are in agreement! We must walk in His ways, and He loves holiness and purity. But you say, “I try so hard, but fail.” Smith explained:

“No man because he makes a blunder fails to succeed in life, but it is when he makes the blunder twice.” No person who fails once closes the high calling. Therefore, the Word of God says, when you repent, repent with godly repentance, that you will never do the same thing again. You have to give in; you have to brace yourself up. The day is young, the opportunities are tremendously large. God help you not to give in. Believe that God can make you afresh and turn you into another man.

We need to recognize we can’t do it by ourselves and as we repent, turn to the mighty Holy Spirit and declare, “in my weakness Your strength is perfected.” Oh, we need to preach to ourselves the truth of the Word. Smith explained how we turn to the wrong things and sources in the days of trial. Instead of first turning to the Lord, we go around Him because we know we are wrong.

Smith shared:

I had another human plan then. I tried my friends. The same thing. Then I went to my lovely wife. Oh, she was a darling! She was holy! I went to her and I said: “0, Mother, I am in a hard place.” “I know,” she said. “I tell you what you have never done, my dear.” “What?” “You have never gone to God once about this thing.” That is the secret. When you get out of the will of God, then you try your own way.

We need to get alone and get real with the Lord. When we get real with Him, He gets real with us. We need a full commitment and a full surrender. We can’t get by with a five-minute insincere prayer. We need to get a hold of Him. We need to hear Him speak into our lives. We need to be changed and we need to be blessed.

“It is lovely to have a place to go to, to pray. Oh! those places to pray where you open your eyes to see if you see Him in reality, He is so near. Ah, to walk with God!

“Father,” I said, “you know all about it. If you will forgive me this time, I will never trouble you again as long as I live with anything like this.” And then came the word of wisdom. He has it. And yet it was the most ridiculous word ever I heard in all my life. The Lord said: “Go see Brother Webster.”

I came downstairs. I said, “He has spoken.” “I knew He would.” “Yes, but you see He said such a ridiculous thing.” “Believe it,” she said, “it will be all right. When God speaks you know it means it is all right.” “But, Mother, you could hardly, think it could be right. He has told me to go. See brother Webster.”

The Lord shares on a need-to-know basis only, and He may not share all the details just yet. He just wants obedience. It is a walk with Him! It is a process of looking to Him and trusting Him. We want others to go find out what the Lord is saying instead of coming to the Father, how we break His heart and fail to receive what He has for us. His words have life to not just bring forth what He promises, but to transform us. Smith said:

Don’t you see, beloved, there is the word, the word of wisdom. One word is sufficient; you don’t need a lot. One little word from God is all you require. You can count upon, it will never fail. It will bring forth that which God has desired.

Enoch walked with the Lord in a dark and trying time. Yet, Enoch was kept by that walk. Enoch was blessed, and so was his family. It is always bigger than you, and what the Lord will do is beyond what you can imagine.

Smith said:

May the Lord give to you this morning wisdom so that you may rightly divide the word of truth, walk in the fear of the Lord, be an example to the saints; never take advantage of the Holy Ghost but allow the Holy Ghost to take advantage of you.  I have come to conclusion which is very beautiful in my estimation: Once I thought I possessed the Holy Ghost, but I have come to the conclusion that He has to be entirely the Possessor of me.
