Do you love to read or hear about the accounts of the Azusa Revival and long to see them again? Do you long for another Azusa Revival or Day of Pentecost? The Azusa Revival was birthed by a humble but powerful man, William J Seymour. He was not a great theologian or pastor of a mega church. He was a man who had every reason to be bitter and mad, but rather he was a man of great love. He overlooked so many wrongs done to him, because his heart belonged to the Master and his validation came from Him.

Jesus declares and commands us:

“All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”

Matthew 28: 18-20

Th call is to preach with power and authority, because He is with us, and He has all authority. So, how do we do this? This is exactly what they saw at Azusa. William J. Seymour said:

“Jesus gave the Church at Pentecost a great lesson of how to carry on a revival, and it would be well for every church to follow Jesus standard of the baptism with the Holy Ghost ad fire.”

Seymour added:

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place’ (Acts 2:1). Oh, beloved, there is where the secret is: one accord, one place, one heart, one soul, one mind, one prayer. If God can get a people anywhere in one accord and in one place, of one heart, mind, and soul, believing for this great power, it will fall and Pentecost results will fall and Pentecostal results will follow. Glory to God!”

No wonder the enemy’s strategy has been to divide the church and keep us in strife. The Church has walked too early and not spiritual. Yet, as Seymour explained:

“Apostolic Faith doctrine means one accord, one soul, one heart. May God help every child of His to live in Jesus’s prayer, ‘That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one is us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me’ (John 17: 21). Praise God! Oh, how my heart cries out of God in these days that He would make every child of His see the necessity of living in John 17, that we may be one in the body of Christ, as Jesus has prayed.”

The deep longing of the Lord’s heart is that we would be one because He understood the power of unity. We focus on our differences because our eyes are on us and earthly things and not the things of Heaven.

Paul wrote:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Galatians 3: 28, 29

We need to learn to see through the blood and be controlled by His love and not our flesh. Our identity is in Him in which there is no separation. Yet, in Him we stand as blood bought from every tribe, kindred, tongue and nation. One yet individuals. The Lord seeing us as one in Him and yet desiring us to bring our unique worship because of the nation, tribe, or tongue from which we were born.

Seymour went on to explain:

When we are sanctified through the truth, then we are one in Christ, and we can get into one accord for the gift or power of the Holy Ghost, and God will come in like a rushing mighty wind and fill every heart with the power of the Holy Spirit. Glory to His holy Name.

We are sanctified out of this world unto Him by His truth. We are told His Word is true, not our traditions, or opinions or the narrative of the world. We are in this world and not of it. It is time we walked as the Children of God, defined by being in His family and not by what separates us on this earth.

Seymour explained:

“In all Jesus’s great revivals and miracles, the work was wrought by the power of the Holy Ghost flowing through His sanctified humanity. When the Holy Ghost comes and takes us as His instruments, this is the power that convicts men and women and causes them to see that there is a reality in serving Jesus Christ.”

Seymour added this powerful point:

“Oh, beloved, we ought to thank God that He has made us the tabernacles of the Holy Ghost.”

We have lost sight of who He is and who we are without Him and more importantly with Him. We claim to preach with an anointing but where is the evidence. It is time to learn to walk so surrendered to the Holy Spirit, that His Presence, touch, and movement is seen in and through our lives.

Seymour said it this way:

“So when we get the power of the Holy Ghost, we will see the heavens open and the Holy Ghost power falling on earth, power over sickness, diseases, and death.”

Paul declared that his preaching was in the wisdom of men or in his strength, but rather, in the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. We need to see this again.

Seymour explained:

“The Lord never revoked the commission He gave to His disciples, ‘Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead’ (Matthew 10: 8), and He is going to perform these things if He can get a people in unity. The Holy Spirit is power with God and man. You have power with God as Elijah had. God put man over all His works, but we know that when Adam sinned, he lost a great deal of his power. But now through the blood of Jesus, He says, ‘Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the powers of the enemy (Luke 10: 19). The Lord Jesus wants a church, when He comes back to earth, just like the one He started when He left the earth and organized it on the day of Pentecost.”

It is time for the Church to learn how to come and wait in His Presence in unity. The Word declares:

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.”

Psalm 133: 1-2

And listen to this:

“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

John 17: 22-23

In these Last Days, the Lord is going to bring us to perfection by making us one so that we are like Him. In this hour the world calls for unity but can only create division. But He abides in unity and if we surrender to Him, He will make us one.

Seymour explained:

“Oh, may every child of God seek his real personal Pentecost, stop quibbling, and come to the standard that Jesus laid down for us in Acts 2: 2, ‘And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” Glory to God! Oh, beloved, if you will wait on God for this baptism of the Holy Ghost just now, and can get two or three people together that are sanctified through the blood of Christ, and all get into one accord, God will send the baptism of the Holy Ghost upon your souls as the rain falls from Heaven.

He added:

“Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there am I in the midst of them’ (Matthew 18: 20). This is Jesus’s baptism; and if two or three gathered in His Name and pray for the baptism of the Holy Ghost, they can have it this day or this night because it is the promise of the Father. Glory to God!”
