Listen to these word…
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”
Acts 2: 1-4
The Lord God has set times and we read so many times in the Word when the day or time had finally come. He has set times and He is never early and never late. When He comes, He comes SUDDENLY. The Holy Spirit came as a divine assault on the world that day. History was forever changed that day. He came running to the battle and set the church on fire, empowering them to join Him to boldly pillage the domain of darkness and set free souls for Jesus.
It was not a nice little meeting like the spirit of religion seeks to paint. No, the Holy Spirit came like a violent rushing wind or hurricane into that room. He made a noise and powerful statement. He was Lord and a mighty God.
These timid frail earthen vessels suddenly became bold witnesses that were unashamed of the Gospel. The word, “Go!” was not a suggestion but a command now from the Master! Go they must and go they did. But not alone, no. They went running with the mighty and glorious Holy Spirit. He led the charge and He was an all-consuming fire. He was as gentle as a dove but fearless and destructive to the enemy’s camp like a raging fire.
Throughout history we have seen many outpourings fulfilling the Word where God would give us the former and latter rains. We have seen incredible nation and even world changing great awakenings. We have seen local and regional revivals that have changed neighbors and cities.
We have seen a lukewarm church that all too often has left its first love, suddenly a jealous lover burning with the fire of heaven and turning the world upside down. Men, women and even children were set ablaze and in complete surrender abandoned all that they too might go. Passionately driven they pleaded and compelled all who would hear them to come and taste and see the Lord was good.
However, while the promise was partially fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost the fullness has yet to come. For as Peter stated on that wonderful day…
“’And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream visions…”
Acts 2: 17
We have not seen the Holy Spirit poured on ALL flesh! That does not mean ALL flesh will receive Him or accept Him, but those who do will be filled with the same glorious fire! The context of this promise is “before the great and glorious day of the Lord.” As I read this I believe as so many of the heroes of faith believed that prior to the great Tribulation period there will be the most incredible move of the Holy Spirit. It will be the great witness to this unbelieving generation.
So, we labor to enter into this great rest when the Holy Spirit shall be so poured out and a global awakening shall shake the very foundations of the earth. He is not coming back for a defeated and broken Body hanging on my its nails. No! He is coming back for a victorious church that is shouting out the Gospel.
Oh, there is a great shaking coming where the real and the false will be separated. The Laodicean will be spewed out and those consumed in a first love of Jesus will be called to come to the wedding feast. But the Master and Savior through His Holy Spirit reminds us and commands us to go to the highways and byways and compel all who are willing to come! Now is the time and the final season of the Holy Spirit will soon be upon us. May we be found faithful, at our posts refusing to surrender and with passionate declaring the glorious Gospel.
Look around at a world growing more and more antichristian! Liberals bent on seeing Christianity removed gain an ever greater voice. Just like in the time period prior to the Day of Pentecost, the Church hides and secretly gathers to pray. But we were called to go! There is coming another “sudden” move of the Holy Spirit.
How long will the move last, I do not know! My opinion is that it will be short, but time will tell. Soon yes very soon it will come. Can you not feel the rain of the coming season? The nations are raging but the roar of the lion of Judah will be heard once again in our homes, streets and lands. He will not fail! He glorious overcame our enemy and we need to realize we face a defeated foe who knows his time grows short.
So, turn to Joel chapter two the chapter Peter referred to in regards the Day of Pentecost and see that in a time of great peril the call from heaven is for us to come return, render our hearts and seek His face. If we will come, volunteer freely in the day of His power will He not return to us and restore us? Will He not raise up a banner and blast His trumpet?
May the passion of His heart so consume you now that you would join me daily seeking His face and monthly humbling ourselves to fast and prayer. Crying out for this generation. Can we watch and see a generation lost and taken captive by the enemy? Is there not a rage on the inside saying, “Enough is enough!” We need heaven to come down and move again. Let us stand together as One Body calling on the Lord of the Host of Heaven to come. Listen and you will hear the rustling of the myrtle trees as He draws close. Now is the time!
